“DIGIRAISE Project Kicks Off in Balıkesir, Turkey”
The “DIGIRAISE – Development of Digital Competencies of Adult Education Teachers” Erasmus+ project activities are starting in Balıkesir, Turkey, hosted by the Karesi District National Education Directorate. The project aims to accelerate the digital transformation process in education with the participation of Spanish and Greek partners.
Among the project’s objectives are strengthening teachers’ digital skills to help them adapt more quickly to technology, increasing the use of digital tools in education, and making the digital transformation of schools more efficient. Additionally, an important goal is to improve the accessibility and inclusivity of adult learners who have fewer opportunities.
The project also focuses on raising environmental awareness and combating harmful factors that damage the environment. In this regard, it aims to promote the integration of climate change prevention and environmental activities into the educational curriculum.
By hosting the project partners, the Karesi District National Education Directorate has taken an important step towards digital transformation in education and environmental sustainability. This international collaboration offers a great opportunity to strengthen both digitalization in education and environmental awareness.
Within the scope of the DIGIRAISE Erasmus+ Project, participating teachers from Turkey, Spain and Greece met in Balıkesir. The first activities were hosted by Karesi District National Education Directorate. After the introduction and introduction meeting, the participants started the training activities. As a result of the trainings that will continue between April 7-11, it is aimed to develop the digital skills of the participants and increase their ability to integrate technology into educational processes.

**A Cultural Event Was Held Within the Scope of the Digiraise Erasmus+ Project**
Within the scope of the Digiraise Erasmus+ project, hosted by Türkiye, teachers from Spain and Greece participated in a cultural trip to Bergama and Ayvalık as part of the project activities. During the visit, participants had the opportunity to explore the historical and cultural richness of the region, while also strengthening cultural interaction and collaboration among educators from different countries.
As part of the trip, the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Ancient City of Pergamon was visited, where participants learned about the historical texture of the area. In Ayvalık, local cultural events were held, including tastings of regional cuisine and introductions to traditional handicrafts. The event contributed significantly to the project’s goals by fostering intercultural understanding among the participating countries.

As the Digiraise Erasmus+ Project Continues, Coordinators Plan for the Future
While the training activities of the Digiraise Erasmus+ project continue at full speed, the project coordinators also came together to plan the next stages of the initiative. During the meeting, which included representatives from the participating countries, the upcoming phases of the project, potential collaborations, and future activities were discussed in detail.
The coordinators evaluated the progress made so far and exchanged ideas and feedback. They reached a consensus on establishing a shared vision to ensure the sustainability of the project and to expand its impact. In this way, the Digiraise project continues to support teachers’ professional development while also strengthening international cooperation.

Project Coordination Meeting

Digiraise Project Team Gathers for a Picnic at Değirmen Boğazı Recreation Area**
As part of the Digiraise Erasmus+ project, the project team took a short break from their intensive training schedule to enjoy a delightful picnic at Değirmen Boğazı Recreation Area, one of Balıkesir’s natural attractions.
During the outdoor event, team members had a pleasant time accompanied by a barbecue, and the traditional Turkish baklava served at the end of the day added a sweet touch to the gathering. This social activity outside of the training sessions helped strengthen communication among the team members and encouraged cultural exchange.
The Digiraise project continues to contribute to the professional development of teachers while also fostering friendly relations among participants from different countries.
Digiraise Project Team Visits Karesi District Officials
As part of the EU-funded Digiraise Project, the project team visited Karesi District Governor Mr. Metin Arslanbaş and Karesi District Director of National Education Mr. Sami Günnü at their offices.
During the visit, information was shared about the project’s goals and activities, which are carried out in partnership with Turkey, Greece, and Spain. The main objective of the project is to enhance the digital and technological competencies of adult education teachers.
The Digiraise Project aims to support digital transformation in education by improving teachers’ abilities to effectively use technology. Discussions during the visit also focused on increasing and disseminating the project’s impact with the support of local stakeholders.
District Governor Mr. Metin Arslanbaş and Director of National Education Mr. Sami Günnü expressed their support for the project, emphasizing that such international collaborations contribute significantly to the quality of local education.
Digiraise Project Team Visited Balıkesir Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports
The Digiraise Project Team visited the Balıkesir Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports, making an important connection regarding youth-focused initiatives. During the visit, the team toured various facilities within the Youth Center, including the Music, Fine Arts, e-Sports, Book Café, and Deneyap workshops, and received information about the ongoing activities.
In addition, the team members participated in various workshops alongside the youth and engaged in one-on-one conversations, listening to their opinions and suggestions. This interactive gathering, which saw enthusiastic participation from the youth, contributed to the exchange of ideas and the emergence of new perspectives for the project.
At the end of the visit, the Digiraise Project Team expressed their appreciation for the high-quality activities being carried out at the Balıkesir Youth Center and conveyed their hope that the efforts aimed at supporting young people will continue to grow stronger.
Visit from the Digiraise Erasmus Project Team to Balıkesir Provincial Director of National Education Murat Demir
As part of the Digiraise Erasmus+ project carried out in Balıkesir with participants from Turkey, Greece, and Spain, the goal is to enhance teachers’ technological competencies. The project team visited the Provincial Director of National Education in Balıkesir, Mr. Murat Demir, at his office.
During the visit, the educational policies and systems of the participating countries were mutually discussed. In meetings held with educators from different countries, the role of technology in teachers’ professional development and the importance of digitalization in education were emphasized.
Mr. Murat Demir highlighted in his speech that teachers are not merely individuals who transmit knowledge but are also leaders who shape the future. He stated, “Teachers play a vital role in achieving world peace and lie at the heart of social development. It is of great importance that they are equipped with technology and raised with universal values.”
Project participants had the opportunity to learn about educational practices in Balıkesir and engage in collaboration and experience sharing with teachers from different cultures.
